The minimum age for hiring any of our motorcycles is 21 however this may be lowered to 18 on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more details. You must hold a Motorcycle license for the class of motorcycle you are hiring.  Non-New Zealand licenses but must be valid for the country in which it was issued and be recognized as such in New Zealand. If the license is not in English an International Driving Permit will be required. Note that you will be required to show your license at the commencement of the hire.

Prior to taking possession of the motorcycle The Hirer will be required to sign a Rental Agreement of these terms and conditions. The Hirer and a Rideabikenz Limited representative will inspect the hire bike before leaving and upon return for any damage. A final inspection will be had once the hire bike has been cleaned and serviced. Costs of repair shall be sought by Rideabikenz Limited, and these costs deducted from the Insurance Excess Bond. Details of costs shall be given to the Hirer at the earliest opportunity. Rideabikenz Limited reserves the right to deduct up to the full Insurance Excess Bond but undertake to repair/replace the damaged item in a cost effective and fair manner. Any damage or loss to accessories will be deducted from the Insurance Excess Bond at cost of repair or replacement if repair is not possible. Providing the motorcycle is returned with no new damage the Insurance Excess Bond will be returned to the Hirer in full. A copy of the Rental Agreement is to be kept with the Hire Bike.

Late returns affect our ability to supply future clients on time. All late returns will be charged a penalty of $250.00 plus the cost of daily hire until returned. If for whatever reason you find yourself unable to meet your expected deadline, please contact us so that we can help make arrangements.

All motorcycle rentals require a compulsory security bond to be pre-authorised on a valid credit card at the time of pickup. This bond represents the insurance excess and applies to any damage involving the motorcycle, accessories, or third-party property during the hire period.

Provided the motorcycle and all supplied accessories are returned in the same condition they were hired out — including no damage, loss, or excessive wear — the pre-authorisation hold will be released at the completion of the rental. This also applies to minor damage such as scratches, damaged seats, broken components, or lost keys.

If any damage or loss occurs during the hire period, Rideabikenz will assess the repair, replacement, or recovery costs and advise the hirer accordingly. The applicable amount will then be charged against the nominated credit card, up to the maximum insurance excess amount.

The hirer’s maximum liability is limited to the value of the insurance bond, plus any reasonable motorcycle recovery costs if recovery is required.

Where damage is extensive and the full cost cannot be immediately determined, Rideabikenz reserves the right to charge the full insurance excess amount pending final assessment.

Please note: if the motorcycle requires collection or recovery during the hire period, an additional motorcycle recovery fee of $650 NZD may apply. This recovery fee is separate from the insurance bond/excess and will be charged independently where applicable.

Payments & Deposits

A 20% deposit is required to confirm all motorcycle rental and tour bookings.

The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 14 days prior to the commencement of the hire or tour.

We accept direct bank-to-bank transfers as well as credit card payments. Please note that payments made by credit card will incur a 3.9% processing surcharge.

Motorcycle Rental Cancellations

More Than 30 Days Before Hire

Bookings cancelled more than 30 days prior to the rental start date are eligible for a full refund, less any applicable bank fees and a $185 NZD administration fee.

Between 14–30 Days Before Hire

Bookings cancelled between 14 and 30 days before the rental start date are eligible for a 20% refund, less any applicable bank fees and a $185 NZD administration fee.

Within 14 Days of Hire

Bookings cancelled within 14 days of the rental start date are non-refundable.

Motorcycle Tour Cancellation Policy

More Than 60 Days Before Tour Departure

The tour deposit is non-refundable.

Between 30–60 Days Before Tour Departure

Cancellation charges equal to 40% of the total tour cost will apply.

29 Days or Less Before Tour Departure

Cancellations made within 29 days of the tour departure date are non-refundable, and 100% of the total tour cost will apply.

Travel Insurance

Rideabikenz strongly recommends that all guests arrange comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unexpected cancellations, medical events, travel delays, or other unforeseen circumstances. description

Rideabikenz Limited has a daily kilometer limit of 350ks. Thereafter charges of .45cents a Kilometer are charged. Note: does not apply for 7 plus day hire or as part of the tours. Extra kilometres will be charged out at .45cents per k. Free kilometres on motorcycle rentals 7 days plus.

In the event of the motorcycle sustaining damage the Hirer must inform Rideabikenz Ltd as soon as practical providing details of damage, names of witnesses, nature of the incident, Police reference number etc. Depending on the nature and cause of the damage Rideabikenz Limited will take appropriate action which may include authorizing a repair, arranging a replacement motorcycle, or cancelling the hire. If the vehicle is no longer road worthy, and said damage was caused by the Hirer, a replacement will not be provided. An allowance of up to $650.00 Recovery Fee will be charged. Note motorcycle recovery is not included under motor insurance and will be claimed separately– Rideabikenz Limited undertake to pass on only the costs directly related to the recovery and to provide The Hirer with a breakdown of these costs.

New Zealand's ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) for any medical expenses caused by a vehicle accident. However, we recommend you have personal insurance to cover any illness, loss of earnings, loss, loss, or damage to personal belongings etc.

The Hirer is responsible for the cost of any puncture repairs or replacement of any tire due to damage sustained during the period of hire regardless of how the damage occurred.

The Hirer is responsible for the full cost of lost keys. Rideabikenz Limited will attempt to replace lost keys on a cost recovery basis during the period of hire but are not responsible for any expenses the Hirer may incur due to immobility of the vehicle.

Our trading hours are between 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday. 9am to 2pm Sunday. Please call to discuss times outside these hours. Drop off is at our Home Depot at 1 Eyre place Kaiapoi, Christchurch.

The Hirer is authorized to spend $80.00 on repairs for mechanical failures such as broken cables, blown bulbs etc. This will be reimbursed at the end of hire with proof of receipt. Authorization for repairs more than this amount must be approved by Rideabikenz Limited before commencement. Failure to do so may result in the reimbursement being declined.

The Hirer agrees to perform all daily checks on the vehicle such as oil and coolant levels tire condition and pressure.

The Hirer must not use the Hire Bike or allow it to be used: To carry passengers or freight for hire or reward, to take part in a rally, time trial, a race or contest of any sort, to be used on beaches or by anyone other than the person named on the Rental Agreement.

Motorcycles hired for road use are not permitted in off road conditions, single track, farms or any condition not marked as a legal road as this will breach and void insurance.

The Hirers is liable for all offences/infringements relating to the vehicle for the period of hire including parking and speeding fines. The cost of all offences/infringements will be deducted from your credit card excess, and a $65.00 Administration Fee will apply unless the Hirer has paid the fine directly before the end of the hire period.

All our motorcycles are supplied with a full tank of fuel. Please return with a full tank. 95 Octane. A $55.00 refuel fee will apply for all motorcycles returned without having been refueled. The cleaning of the bikes is included in the cost of hire.
